and the Other
In the last appointment of the conference series ‘Middle Ages on the Move‘, we will talk of the literary side of travel together with Cristiano Bedin and Marco Di Branco. We will begin our journey the Muslim Ibn Battuta and the Christian Marco Polo and the we will travel into the future between reality and fantasy.
Cristiano Bedin will talk about the strange, unusual and fantastic in travel literature with particular reference to Marco Polo and Evliya Çelebi, while Marco Di Branco will present the travelogue of Ibn Battuta.
Cristiano Bedin teaches Italian and comparative literature at the Istanbul Üniversitesi.
Marco Di Branco teaches Byzantine and Islamic history at the Sapienza University, Rome.
