Spanish architect Pablo Millán will be the sixth speaker at the conference series title “Contemporary Religious Architecture in the Mediterranean World”. The event is jointly organized by the Dominican Study Institute-Istanbul (Dost-I) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erhan Berat Fındıklı who is project manager from Istanbul Medeniyet University, department of sociology, and also in collaboration with Depo Pergamon, Istituto Italiano di Cultura-Istanbul and Cervantes Institute.

Pablo Millán is known for his poetic and conceptual approach to architectural design. His work is characterised by a deep sensitivity to historical and cultural context, combined with a constant search for formal and spatial innovation. As founder of Estudio Pablo Millán, he has realised projects ranging from religious and heritage architecture to contemporary interventions in historical spaces. His work explores how architecture can evoke emotions and narratives, reflecting a balance between tradition and modernity.

The Blessed Sacrament Chapel in Martín de la Jara, designed by Pablo Millán, has a simple and profound design. Set in the rural context of this small village in Seville, the chapel combines modern lines with references to Andalusian architectural tradition. The strategic use of local materials and natural light creates an intimate space that invites reflection and inner spiritual peace. This project is an example of how contemporary architecture, in harmony with the historical and cultural environment, can add symbolic and functional value to rural communities.
