Le Corbusier. and the Sainte-Marie de La Turette Priory

French architect and Dominican friar Charles Desjobert will be the ninth speaker in the conference series Contemporary Religious Architecture in the Mediterranean World The event is co-organized by the Dominican Studies Institute-Istanbul (Dost-I) and Assoc  Prof.  Dr. Erhan Berat Fındıklı, project manager from the Department of Sociology at Istanbul Medeniyet University with support from Depo Pergamon, Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Istanbul, and the Network of Centers for Christian-Muslim Relations (NCCMR).

Desjobert will deliver a lecture on Saint Marie de la La Turrette Priory, designed by the iconic modernist architect Le Corbusier in Lyon. As both a Dominican friar and architect, He will shed light on the interplay between contemporary monastic life and modernist architectural design. He will examine the priory as a dynamic process of symbolic interaction between institutions and individuals, focusing on themes of religiosity, modernism in architecture and spatial practices.
