The Name of the Rose: "a Middle Age betrayed or translated?"

Two video conferences (in Italian and Turkish)

41 year after its first edition, the Italian Cultural Center of Istanbul and DoSt-I have organized two talks to discover the magic of the Namen of the Rose.

In the first meeting Marco Rainini, who teaches History of the Church at the  Università Cattolica of Milan, and Ahmet Altunbaş, translator of Latin Medieval textes, have shared their views on the history, theology and science, which were the background of the novel.

In the secondo meeting, Anna Maria Lorusso, disciple of Umberto Eco and professor of Semiotics at the University of Bologna, and Betül Parlak Cengiz, translator of Umberto Eco and  professor of Translation Studies at the Istanbul University, have talked about the challenges of translations especially for novels like the Name of the Rose, in the light of Eco’s theory of translation.
